Shade structures: Adding a shade structure such as a gazebo, patio roof, horizontal screen, or overhang makes for a more versatile pool environment. It can become a sheltered play area for children, a shady spot for relaxation and reading, and a place for eating and outdoor entertaining. A gazebo, fine for entertaining, has storage and dressing rooms in the rear. A pool house can simply be a place to change in privacy and hang wet towels and bathing suits, or it can include a shower and lavatory. Some pool houses are a lot more elaborate, designed as warm weather retreats complete with sauna, living and sleeping areas, and storage space.
